Shot in Nepal and the Italian Alps, Everest features some big-names cast suchs as Josh Brolin playing Texas climber Beck Weathers and Jake Gyllenhaal who plays Fischer.
Opening in theaters and IMAX on September 18, 2015, Everest follows expeditions led by guides Rob Hall and Scott Fischer as the Western climbers under their watch struggle to survive a snowstorm high on the mountain.
The real events were first detailed by Jon Krakauer in his bestselling book Into Thin Air which received many criticism for numerous inconsistencies and mostly for not informing the reader that the team members were receiving accurate daily weather forecasts and knew about the storm in advance…
The first TV movie adaptation of the book, Into Thin Air: Death on Everest, aired in 1997, differed sharply from Krakauer’s account of the events. And as we all know it, do not expect factually based project, having for a fact that popular non-fiction books being adapted for screen in Hollywood generally goes over the top. For those who might have never read the book, the movie could actually be good. But for those who have? It may be disappointing. But you never know, they could well pull it off.
